Yesterday while taking a lunchtime walk around Hinxton, I came upon this glove hanging off a hedgerow in the middle of nowhere! It seemed to be pointing to the way I must take!

White magnolia
I don’t have space to grow a full magnolia tree in the garden so I have these in large pots. The magnolia flowers are therefore smaller than one would find in trees. This is a white magnolia that has been in bloom since mid-March.

Dusting off the cobwebs!
I haven’t been active with my photography for over 4 months now. One thing led to another and before I knew it months had passed and my camera remained untouched. Yesterday my son brought in something he had made out of Lego (below). That inspired me to get back to the camera and shoot off a few pictures, just to get back in the frame of mind. Hopefully, with spring here I can discover the joys of photography for 2016!
St. Paul’s and the Millennium Bridge

The V1 flying bomb
The Imperial War Museum in Duxford has a fantastically preserved German V1 flying bomb dating back to 1944-1945. The V1 is one of the earliest weapons to use a pulsejet engine. With an effective range of 160 miles over 9000 of these were launched at the United Kingdom between June and October 1944 till their launch sites were overrun by Allied advances.

Poppies..
Red on black-and-white is such a cool combination of colours. Red poppies in a wheat field, memories of a summer gone by!
Thanksgiving Cactus (Schlumbergera)
Also known as christmas cactus (but it is flowering here in Cambridge just in time for Thanksgiving), Schlumbergera’s are a strange sort of cactus plants. They have stems that look like leaf-like pads connected to one another. The flowers form at the terminal end of the plant. I grew mine from a small two segment section taken from a friends house and popped into a pot.

Autumnal colour
Some trees change colour gradually, some rapidly like this one below. Took less than 2 weeks to go from green ṭo the lovely reds!
Musk mallow
Malva moschata (Malvaceae) – lovely pink flowers, usually found growing wild in meadows (like this one!) 
Cones and stuff..
Found these cones and various seed pods carefully arranged at Allan Bank in Grasmere. Made a nice study of various natural textures contrasting with the surface. Photographed with a Nikon D7000.
