Gold, Grey and Purple

Gold, Grey and Purple

Down in South Cambridgeshire (near Duxford), a field left fallow by a Public Footpath. Now covered in golden strands of grass seeds.

  1. That is a nice pic J. Is it deliberately left fallow to regenerate and become fertile? Traditionally famers used to do that. If it is waiting for buyers to become highrise buildings then it is sad

    1. Well a bit of the former (left to regenerate) plus also an issue of European Farming subsidy that pays farmers to leave land fallow (crazy isn’t it?). No chance of this land being used for construction anytime soon. It is in the green belt surrounded by farmland!! Couple of years ago they were growing potatoes on this patch, then last year wheat.
