Goa is probably best known around the world for its beaches and beach resorts. Here are a few shots from beaches in North Goa from my visit January 2012.

I think we chose a great time to visit Goa and a good time of the day to be at the beaches. There were few people about and that made for a relaxing walk in the balmy waters. Calangute beach was possibly the most crowded beach of all. We couldn’t see the sea given the sheer number of people!

Nice travelogue and lovely photos too!!
Thank you!
Lovely. 🙂
Calangute beach, in my opinion, is best avoided unless you want to photograph the crowd!
That’s very true.. I couldn’t see the point of so many people.. Surely they couldn’t be having fun?
First of all define “fun”. Your and my idea of fun might not be someone else’s. 🙂
Then for anyone coming to Goa for the first time, Calangute beach is a “must see” place. Calangute (along with Candolim and Baga) is also hyped to be the place to be in Goa.
Look at Palolem further south down the coast, a fantastic place! And 10 minutes walk further down is Patnem, if you like virtually deserted beaches.
Certainly, my next trip to Goa will explore the south goa beaches!
